From Me to Me, Part 2

I recently went way down a rabbit hole with the concept of accessorizing my bags.

I blame Henri Bendel’s “Dress Up Your Bag” campaign, but of course I am very weak and susceptible to all things Shopping.

I purchased this colorful guitar strap to add to an old Marc Jacobs tote, but the clips on the end were too small to attach to the tote’s hardware, so I had to improvise with some rings that I bought at a craft store.

I was going for a vibe like this:

I also picked up two of the perforated luggage tags, one pink and one gold. These are planned for different bags.

As I fell deeper down the rabbit hole, I discovered a whole world of customized pieces on Etsy, including an upcycled Louis Vuitton tassel. I haven’t had good luck with Etsy in the past, but I decided to give it one more try.

I honestly can’t tell if the Vuitton strips are real or fake, but I really don’t care. The tassel looks cool to me either way. I added this to my pink and green trimmed bag from the Spring 2017 collection. I was really pleased with this purchase, and the shipping was really fast. I think it took fewer than 4 days from order to arrival.

The tag was also personalized with my initial:

This was a cool find.

From Me to Me, Part 1

I did almost all of my holiday shopping online during the Black Friday – Cyber Monday weekend, and naturally, many of the purchases were in the From Me to Me category.

The deals were just too good to pass up.

Anthropologie had a 30% off sale going on, which basically made me dizzy.

I’d been in one of the stores a few weeks prior and snapped three pics of things that caught my eye:

From top to bottom:

  • A jeweled faux fur infinity scarf that I absolutely do not need
  • An over-the-top pair of pom-pom slippers that I need even less than the scarf
  • The World’s Best Keychain

I hemmed and hawed over my order and ultimately picked up several of their signature Capri Blue candles (seriously, this is what makes your house smell like an Anthro store, and this is an entirely good thing), a gift book for someone, a Darphin skin care set for me that turned out to be for people with skin redness and not anti-aging (Sigh, should have read that more closely), several small and adorable lip balms and hand lotions to give as gifts, and the fabulous keychain shown above.

Birchbox also had 25% off, and this was tough because both of the items I bought were in the luxuriously unnecessary category, but the deal could not be missed.

These Oribe hair products smell great, but they are ridiculously expensive. Getting this set for 25% off made it easier to click “Buy.”

The Oribe Gold Lust set contains shampoo, conditioner and hair oil – all of which smell divine – and is a $139 value. Birchbox sells the set for $110, but with 25% off, I was able to get it for roughly $82. Now that I type this, it still seems ridiculously expensive.

The other thing I ordered from the Birchbox sale was a Foreo Luna. I’d tried this skin care device during a facial a few months ago and loved how clean it made my face feel. I have an old Clarisonic brush that I use but I don’t like how gross the brush heads get and how it needs to be recharged with increasing frequency the older it is. The Foreo is made of silicone and easier to clean, also no charging required.

Another purchase was from the decidingly-less-luxurious-but-my-most-frequently-shopped store, Target.

There were so many different deals going on at Target that weekend, and I found several things for MGM (10) and Trixie (8).

This was in the Juniors department, but I got an XS for Trixie. Considering her bear-like growls and attitude in the morning, this was perfect:

Regularly $17.99, it was on sale for $10. But then look! Next to it was something on sale that called to me:

Oh, heck yeah.

This soft hoodie was only $12 and goes so well with my new keychain.

‘Tis the Season.

Madewell Candles & A Beauty Launch

Argh! I’m a bit late to post on this, seeing that one of the lovely candles I recently discovered now appears to be sold out.

Madewell launched a line of candles a few months ago, and I picked up a set of these as a gift, and then immediately purchased a second set for myself:

These are slightly larger than a votive and they’re hand poured here in Minnesota. The ceramic containers are supposedly re-usable once the candles are done.

The two pictured above are Fig Cassis and Cedar Vetiver, respectively, but the sold out one – which, sadly, was my favorite – came in a lovely millennial pink hue and is scented with Bergamot and Amber. Together, the three made a pretty trio and the palette is spot on for 2017.

Even though millennial pink candle #1 may no longer be available, this new Bergamot and Amber edition is:

Same tone, same scent. Millennial Pink #2.

The new candle release also includes this cute number:

One more thing: Madewell also just launched Beauty Cabinet, an edited collection of  cosmetics that include French Girl Lip Tints.

These Boots

Take a moment to appreciate these beauties:

I saw a woman wearing these on an elevator last night, and I was so taken by their sheer awesomeness that I asked if I could take a picture. She obliged.

For context, I’m currently in San Antonio and many, many people were out celebrating Dia de los Muertos last night, but still. Swoon. I would wear these the other 364 days of the year, too.
