J. Crew March Edit

I will not buy these things.

I will not buy these things.

I will not buy these things.

(I am hoping that saying it three times makes this intention true, but who are we kidding?)

Seriously, many of J. Crew’s latest offerings feel fresh and spring-like. Check these out:

This embellished bell sleeve blouse has buttons on the back, although since it’s part of J. Crew’s Collection line, the price is steep ($250).

I’m not sure if the blouse would look good with this Soleil crystal necklace, but I’m willing to take the risk:

I don’t wear a lot of heavy earrings, but this pair is making me reconsider:

screen-shot-2017-02-24-at-8-12-57-am

And how about the colors of this cashmere Pop Stripe sweater?

screen-shot-2017-02-24-at-8-15-17-am

If the price of the sweater ($278) is too high, this boatneck tee in a vintage stripe has a similar vibe for less ($39.50):

I’m not usually good at switching my bags from season to season, AND a bag this light should reasonably make me nervous given my propensity to spill things everywhere, but this Marine salt hobo feels right for the warmer months:

And finally, shoes, shoesshoes and more shoes:

Just Want Now: Spring Vuittons

Ugh.

I *almost* wish I’d never seen these.

Screen Shot 2017-02-05 at 5.41.30 PM.png

Vuitton’s new spring collection has some colorful accents that I’m absolutely loving.

Above and below is the Tuileries Besace bag in khaki:

This black/tan/red hobo is also speaking my language:

You can add even more flair with these tassels:

I think I’m in serious trouble here.

Nordstrom Sale Rack

Act fast! Nordstrom has some killer deals right now.

Like this Rebecca Minkoff tasseled camera bag, which is now reduced from $245 to $147, a whopping 40% off.

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-06-48-pm

Another Rebecca Minkoff: this mini feed bag is also 40% off ($195 to $117). I love the red color and the gold hardware.

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-08-21-pm

My Friend/Work Partner P. was wearing a camel colored mini poncho earlier this week and it looked adorable when paired with a plain cream top, camel faux suede leggings and brown riding boots. You could get a similar effect with extending this infinity scarf over your shoulders. The best part is that this is only $12 right now.

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-10-47-pm

Wow! This is quite a find: a Clare V. tote on mega sale, from $495 to $297. I didn’t even know Nordstrom carried this cult brand.

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-15-37-pm

This MAC mini makeup brush set is only $32, reduced from $53. It’s from a “Nutcracker” collection left over from the holidays, but who cares? Mini brushes are perfect for travel. I would snap this up in a second if I didn’t already have a million (figurative estimate) similar ones at home.

Here’s a cute Madewell cowl neck sweater with a drawstring at the waist, at 30% off ($118 to $80):

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-37-37-pm

This Alice + Olivia colorblock sweater is remarkably similar to one I received from Stitch Fix in November. It’s a staggering 60% off: $275 to $110, but it’s currently only available in medium.

Here’s a classy Trina Turk camel peacoat with an interesting cut, reduced from $495 to $300. I love the leather details.

It’s not quite End of Season for winter gear (and frankly, I’ve probably got at least 3 more months of snow ahead of me, sigh), so while good deals are starting to show up on winter coats, they’ll still get better. Because winter fashion is an extended event here, I have a lot of coats. I would consider adding this Trina Turk number to the collection if it was $150, but I’m still not ready to spend $300 for another coat I don’t really need.

Speaking of coats, Nordstrom also recently collaborated with J. Crew, and there are several J. Crew coats (including this Chateau parka that I blogged about earlier) on sale at Nordstrom. The caveat? You can still get better deals at J. Crew. The Chateau parka was originally $378 and is now $284 at Nordstrom, however, I was able to snag it at J. Crew for $179.

One last fun pick from the Nordstrom sale. This Junk Food sweatshirt perfectly captures my thoughts:

Happy Weekend Shopping, Friends!

Shot of Color with Spring Scarves from Banana Republic

img_1565

This is the view from my hotel room this morning.

On the plus side, the weather is actually better than forecasted.

But that’s not saying much.

Yesterday was also “Blue Monday,” which has been dubbed the most depressing day of the year.

All of this gray-ness makes me crave signs of spring.

Since I don’t have any trips involving sunshine scheduled any time soon, these scarves from Banana Republic will have to do.

First up: blue and green.

I like the daisies on the top one, especially the pop of orange in the centers.

This pink floral one is also light and pretty:

Things I Want For Christmas

Ok, so I’m riding the fence between the Naughty and Nice Lists this year, like always.

And mostly, I buy myself whatever I want, especially when I find an irresistible deal.

But there are always things I have my eye on.

s1826536-main-lhero

I still use the same $14 straightener I bought at Target over a decade ago. Considering that I wash my hair less frequently than ever these days (thank you, dry shampoo!), I typically run my straightener through my hair a few times a week, and I could use an upgrade. This set from Sephora would fit the bill. The price is $199, but I have a $20 coupon for Sephora that would bring the tab down.

hammitt_5n_blk-g_grande

Once I get something in my head, I tend to perseverate until I get it. Since getting my Hammitt cross body bag, I’ve had the brand on my brain. Their 5 North Wallet appeals due to its modern aesthetic and compact size. My workhorse Marc Jacobs wallet has served me well for several years (and still looks terrific), but its large size and overflowing change compartment make it bulky (and heavy). Hammitt also recently introduced some (overpriced) sandals that are so simple and cool in their design, I can’t stop wanting them. Fortunately, they are sold out or I would be in trouble.

screen-shot-2016-12-03-at-3-06-44-pm

This is sort of embarrassing, because this excellent make-up palette is only available from one place: QVC. I’ve often espoused my love for all things Bobbi Brown, and this palette really is the Holy Grail. It contains concealer, corrector, foundation and powder. I wear every color in the “Sand” palette. This is absolutely perfect for on-the-go beauty, or honestly, just everyday wear. I just wish I could buy it directly from Bobbi, and not from a place that also sells clothes from the Quacker Factory.

Practical and cheap ($2.97), I need a comb to de-pill my sweaters.

mbp13touch-silver-select-201610

Leaving my old job also meant returning my laptop, so I’m in the market for a new one. I will buy this MacBook Pro, but honestly I am going to write it off as a business expense at the beginning of the year, so I probably shouldn’t even include it on this list. However, I am currently feeling the pain of not having a laptop like that of a lost limb. Not being able to online shop while catching up on the Real Housewives of Wherever has been difficult.

adorn-necklace

These metallic arc necklaces are cool and well-priced. I can’t decide if I like silver or gold better, but at $35 and $42, respectively, they are cheap enough get both.

This iPhone 6 case is fun and only $24. The one I currently have is falling apart, so this would be a solid improvement.

File all of the shoes under “Completely Superfluous, Impractical Wardrobe Additions.”

P.S. I would have put this bag on The List, but I found a screaming deal and already got it for a song, thanks to being hooked up by my friend B. Review forthcoming.
