From Me to Me, Part 1

I did almost all of my holiday shopping online during the Black Friday – Cyber Monday weekend, and naturally, many of the purchases were in the From Me to Me category.

The deals were just too good to pass up.

Anthropologie had a 30% off sale going on, which basically made me dizzy.

I’d been in one of the stores a few weeks prior and snapped three pics of things that caught my eye:

From top to bottom:

  • A jeweled faux fur infinity scarf that I absolutely do not need
  • An over-the-top pair of pom-pom slippers that I need even less than the scarf
  • The World’s Best Keychain

I hemmed and hawed over my order and ultimately picked up several of their signature Capri Blue candles (seriously, this is what makes your house smell like an Anthro store, and this is an entirely good thing), a gift book for someone, a Darphin skin care set for me that turned out to be for people with skin redness and not anti-aging (Sigh, should have read that more closely), several small and adorable lip balms and hand lotions to give as gifts, and the fabulous keychain shown above.

Birchbox also had 25% off, and this was tough because both of the items I bought were in the luxuriously unnecessary category, but the deal could not be missed.

These Oribe hair products smell great, but they are ridiculously expensive. Getting this set for 25% off made it easier to click “Buy.”

The Oribe Gold Lust set contains shampoo, conditioner and hair oil – all of which smell divine – and is a $139 value. Birchbox sells the set for $110, but with 25% off, I was able to get it for roughly $82. Now that I type this, it still seems ridiculously expensive.

The other thing I ordered from the Birchbox sale was a Foreo Luna. I’d tried this skin care device during a facial a few months ago and loved how clean it made my face feel. I have an old Clarisonic brush that I use but I don’t like how gross the brush heads get and how it needs to be recharged with increasing frequency the older it is. The Foreo is made of silicone and easier to clean, also no charging required.

Another purchase was from the decidingly-less-luxurious-but-my-most-frequently-shopped store, Target.

There were so many different deals going on at Target that weekend, and I found several things for MGM (10) and Trixie (8).

This was in the Juniors department, but I got an XS for Trixie. Considering her bear-like growls and attitude in the morning, this was perfect:

Regularly $17.99, it was on sale for $10. But then look! Next to it was something on sale that called to me:

Oh, heck yeah.

This soft hoodie was only $12 and goes so well with my new keychain.

‘Tis the Season.

Nordstrom Sale Rack

Act fast! Nordstrom has some killer deals right now.

Like this Rebecca Minkoff tasseled camera bag, which is now reduced from $245 to $147, a whopping 40% off.

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-06-48-pm

Another Rebecca Minkoff: this mini feed bag is also 40% off ($195 to $117). I love the red color and the gold hardware.

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-08-21-pm

My Friend/Work Partner P. was wearing a camel colored mini poncho earlier this week and it looked adorable when paired with a plain cream top, camel faux suede leggings and brown riding boots. You could get a similar effect with extending this infinity scarf over your shoulders. The best part is that this is only $12 right now.

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-10-47-pm

Wow! This is quite a find: a Clare V. tote on mega sale, from $495 to $297. I didn’t even know Nordstrom carried this cult brand.

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-15-37-pm

This MAC mini makeup brush set is only $32, reduced from $53. It’s from a “Nutcracker” collection left over from the holidays, but who cares? Mini brushes are perfect for travel. I would snap this up in a second if I didn’t already have a million (figurative estimate) similar ones at home.

Here’s a cute Madewell cowl neck sweater with a drawstring at the waist, at 30% off ($118 to $80):

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-37-37-pm

This Alice + Olivia colorblock sweater is remarkably similar to one I received from Stitch Fix in November. It’s a staggering 60% off: $275 to $110, but it’s currently only available in medium.

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-41-54-pm

Here’s a classy Trina Turk camel peacoat with an interesting cut, reduced from $495 to $300. I love the leather details.

screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-51-28-pm screen-shot-2017-01-18-at-7-51-38-pm

It’s not quite End of Season for winter gear (and frankly, I’ve probably got at least 3 more months of snow ahead of me, sigh), so while good deals are starting to show up on winter coats, they’ll still get better. Because winter fashion is an extended event here, I have a lot of coats. I would consider adding this Trina Turk number to the collection if it was $150, but I’m still not ready to spend $300 for another coat I don’t really need.

Speaking of coats, Nordstrom also recently collaborated with J. Crew, and there are several J. Crew coats (including this Chateau parka that I blogged about earlier) on sale at Nordstrom. The caveat? You can still get better deals at J. Crew. The Chateau parka was originally $378 and is now $284 at Nordstrom, however, I was able to snag it at J. Crew for $179.

One last fun pick from the Nordstrom sale. This Junk Food sweatshirt perfectly captures my thoughts:

Happy Weekend Shopping, Friends!

Stuff That Popped Up On My Facebook Feed

Oh, Facebook, you know me so well.

Algorithmically, I seem to fit the demographic of someone who likes to drink wine (check) and shop online (CHECK!).

And sometimes I do both at the same time.

Here are a few companies that popped into my Facebook feed that intrigued me:

girlfriendcollective

The Girlfriend Collective started showing up last spring. Much has been written about this startup that is giving away free (supposedly) high-quality, ethically-made leggings for the price of shipping and handling ($20). Ok, I bit, but my leggings don’t arrive until October so I will review them then.

0148_hammitt_vip-glacier-s-r-zip_1-2018x2018_grande

This Hammitt cross-body bag is on my holiday wish list. I love the red zipper. This style is called the VIP clutch and comes in twenty color combos. Want.

sudara

The premise behind Sudara is one I can totally support: female employees are human-trafficking survivors who are given job training and employment. Read the story here. Sudara’s most popular products are lounge pants called Punjammies, although they have other cute leisure styles. I have a pair of capri Punjammies and an elephant tee that have both seen a lot of wear in the past six months.

ivory

Speaking of elephants, Ivory Ella is a mostly-tees company (and they are cuuuute) where 100% of net profits reportedly go to support the Elephant Crisis Fund. Again, I can get behind that. I might order some for holiday gifts, although I haven’t purchased anything yet.

adorn-necklace

Adorn Jewelry Designs is a local (Midwest) purveyor of handmade jewelry. My feed showed me a picture of this metallic stone arc necklace and I’ve been thinking about it a lot. It looks like it would go with everything and at $35, the price point is terrific. Adorn’s Etsy shop also features cute earrings, including an adorable horseshoe pair.

I am such an easy mark.

Old Navy Fall Edit

I always forget about Old Navy.

Even though there’s a store only five minutes away from my house, I probably venture there less than once a year, and my kids are the usual recipients of the bounty.

And I have mixed feelings about Old Navy.

Yes, they have amazing deals on basics (tees, flip flops) and fast fashion.

Yes, you can walk out with two overflowing bags for less than $100.

Yes, everything falls apart after about four months.

And I’ve said it before, but when a fleece jacket costs $12, it makes me nervous that someone is being exploited somewhere to make that possible.

Having said that (and pushing my doubts aside and convictions down), if you’re in the market for a few fall wardrobe additions, these pieces caught my eye:

An extra long cardigan in charcoal gray. This is a perfect layer to keep at the office.

cn10169646

A cowl neck poncho in a versatile taupe color. I’m a huge fan of ponchos over slim pants.

cn10023508

A tee with faux leather details.

cn9989445

A colorful scarf that would look great with all the plaid being shown right now.

cn10138645

And speaking of plaid: Red and pink scarves.

cn10193973 cn9778145

A faux suede crossbody bag that seriously echoes Clare V.

cn9924635

And from their activewear line, these compression crop pants in purple and teal.

Do you shop at Old Navy? What do you think are their best deals?

So while I didn’t indulge (again, yet), my darling friend P. pre-warned me that she would be spending the entire day at our local Nordstrom.

True to her word, she sent me this picture in late afternoon:

IMG_6344.JPG

P, I bow down to your shopping prowess.

So Many Irresistible Deals

There are so many great sales going on this weekend.

And of course, since I need absolutely nothing, I must resist. Must. Resist.

Trixie (6), however, could use a few things for summer. After seeing a few outfits exposing a lot of her midriff due to a winter growth spurt, I realized it’s high time to buy some new (longer) shirts.

The Gap is having a great sale this weekend, 40% off regular price styles with code SUMMER. I’m going to order her a few of these everyday dresses, which I know will get a lot of rotation this summer.

cn9434058

Athleta is also running a spend more/save more deal: $25 off $150, $50 off $250 and $150 off $500 with code HEATINGUP.

This one has my name all over it: Splendid has 25% off everything with code PACKSPEND25.

Why not consider this Splendid tote bag?

9944_indigo_l

And you have to act on it today, but Henri Bendel is offering 25% off all jewelry and hair accessories.

Happy Holiday shopping! Bring on summer!
