Ring, ring! The 90s called and they want their sandals back.
Platform sandals seem to be everywhere for spring/summer ’15.
Here’s the Nordstrom shoe department yesterday:
The first pic of black platforms reminds me so much of my friend and ex-roommate S’s chunky Steve Maddens from 1994 that I can’t stand it.
(By “can’t stand it” I mean that I pre-ordered them for purchase during the Nordstrom Triple Point event happing March 18-22. They’re going to send them to me. Thank you, Nordstrom!)
The second pic is a pair of platform Tevas. Yes, Tevas.
The others are Topshop for Nordstrom.
Here’s a J. Crew version:
Would you try these? Obviously I’m biting.
Oh, man. The shoes in the Boden Spring Collection are proving to be irresistible.
I can’t even make my mind up about which color I’d choose from this tassel point flat:
Orange and I are definitely having a moment, though.
Same Sophie’s Choice problem with these:
Red suede heels. Want.
How pretty would these flowered slingbacks be for a wedding?
Metallic color block flats:
And my favorite! These cut out boots:
I’m not even sure where I’d wear these (they also come in a more subdued navy or chestnut brown), but I strongly think my closet is lonely without them.
Seriously, how fun are these?
I am so getting these orange leather loafers from the Gap.
Full retail is only $64.95, but I have a sneaking suspicion that one of the Gap’s many sales will let me net them for less.
I don’t really follow New York fashion week, but I did see a mid-week blurb announcing Pantone’s top colors for spring 2015.
If you’re not familiar, this is ground zero for fashion forecasting. Hot colors for fall 2014 were predicted to be cobalt blue, burgundy, and olive, among others, and I’ve definitely seen these on the racks and online.
In doubt? Check out the two new colors of Tieks that just debuted:
That’s the Gospel According to Pantone in action.
Spring 2015 colors include:
- Aquamarine: Sea and sky blue (Personal favorite)
- Scuba Blue: A vibrant, deep turquiose blue (Another favorite)
- Lucite Green: Soft mint
- Classic Blue
- Toasted Almond
- Strawberry Ice: Soft pink
- Custard: Soft yellow/cream
- Marsala: Wine
- Glacier Gray
Most of these are cool tones. See samples here.
I am most excited about Scuba Blue, which reminds me of the color of my favorite C&C California shirt ever, although there it was called “Steve.”
I wore that Steve shirt until it disintegrated, so pretty was the shade of blue and so soft was the cotton. This is one time I wish I was a hoarder and would have had the foresight to stock up on those shirts.
Here’s Scuba Blue:
Oh, Michael Stars, how you tempt me!
It’s subtle, but this tank reads “New York State of Mind.”
P.S. This is also pretty dang cool.
