Spring 2015 Color Palette

I don’t really follow New York fashion week, but I did see a mid-week blurb announcing Pantone’s top colors for spring 2015.

If you’re not familiar, this is ground zero for fashion forecasting. Hot colors for fall 2014 were predicted to be cobalt blue, burgundy, and olive, among others, and I’ve definitely seen these on the racks and online.

In doubt? Check out the two new colors of Tieks that just debuted:

That’s the Gospel According to Pantone in action.

 Spring 2015 colors include:

  • Aquamarine: Sea and sky blue (Personal favorite)
  • Scuba Blue: A vibrant, deep turquiose blue (Another favorite)
  • Lucite Green: Soft mint
  • Classic Blue
  • Toasted Almond
  • Strawberry Ice: Soft pink
  • Tangerine
  • Custard: Soft yellow/cream
  • Marsala: Wine
  • Glacier Gray

Most of these are cool tones. See samples here.

I am most excited about Scuba Blue, which reminds me of the color of my favorite C&C California shirt ever, although there it was called “Steve.”

I wore that Steve shirt until it disintegrated, so pretty was the shade of blue and so soft was the cotton. This is one time I wish I was a hoarder and would have had the foresight to stock up on those shirts.

Here’s Scuba Blue:

 Gorgeous.

Tieks

Honestly, I am not that big on wearing flats.

I like to be tall.

Like, really tall.

I’m 5’9″ with bare feet and my preferred heel height adds another 3 or 4 inches. On a good day, Spouse and I are seeing eye to eye, and he’s 6’3″.

So, yeah, I don’t wear flats all that much.

Except… this morning I ran 19 miles and pre-run I already had one toenail that was threatening to fall off.

Post-run inspection of my purple nail confirms that it’s definitely on its way out. Pitching my foot forward into a pointy toe box suddenly doesn’t seem all that appealing.

I’m trying to decide if I want to bite the bullet and buy a pair of Tieks, the pricey ballet flats that are seemingly cropping up everywhere I turn.

Their distinctive Tiffany blue sole is pretty darn cute:

Tieks come in about 50 different colors or patterns and range in price from $175 to $295.

I like the snake print ones, which unfortunately are at the upper price point. Sigh.
