One More Thing, #31

Tory Burch has two great coats in the Spring 2017 collection.

The Hibbert Coat is extremely pretty and lady-like, but let’s not kid ourselves: with my propensity to spill coffee, trip and fall, and generally do things like get splashed with mystery liquids, this light colored number is probably NOT for me.

This bright Castleton peacoat in “Samba” might be more suitable:

It’s hard to tell from the picture, but the coat has bracelet length sleeves and a cool blue and white lining.

I want this to go on sale NOW!

Bag Scarves

Handbags accessorized with scarves seem to be a Thing this spring.

Here’s one version from J. Crew:

And Tory Burch is really pushing this trend with the new T satchel:

Speaking of the T satchel, it’s a great pick if you are searching for a structured, lady-like bag:

It comes in six colors and full retail price is $495.

I have too many bags, so I’ll probably skip this one, but it would make an amazing gift for a college grad as a first “grown up bag” suitable for work or interviews.

Tory Burch Holiday Outfit Ideas

Once again, I have zero holiday party invitations, at least for now.

But a girl can dream, right?

These picks are from Tory Burch.

First up, this metallic pink tunic is awesome but will remain a fantasy piece for my wardrobe, given that it’s $495, I don’t have anywhere to wear it, and I would probably spill cocktail sauce on it within five minutes of entering said imaginary party.

I’d keep the pants and jewelry simple with this wild of a top, but I’d still go big on the shoes:

Realistically, this dress is a little more my speed:

Now I just wish I had somewhere fun to go.

Orange Pops of Color

Dang! I was planning to order these Gap shoes when I had a coupon for 40% off (started yesterday), but then two things happened:

  1. I realized the coupon was for in-store purchases only, not online, and our local store does not sell shoes.
  2. The shoes are now backordered.

Sigh.

I ended up ordering them for full retail – which I hate to do at the Gap – and now they’re delayed. Double d’oh.

But that hasn’t stopped me from still being obsessed with all things orange.

Maybe it’s the subzero temps lately and the happy (and tropical) associations I have with the color orange, but it’s really been a magnet for me, even more than usual.

(Did I ever mention that I drive an orange Jeep? Fact).

Current Orange Obsession (COO) #1: This bag.

I used to be squarely in the camp that a designer bag should be a classic, period. The thought of buying an investment piece that turned out to be a flash-in-the-pan trend seemed like a total waste, and that mindset carried over to color selection, too. (Hello, black!)

A few months ago I was traveling and saw a chic woman carrying the same classic Prada handbag that I own (in black), but hers was electric blue.

The color really stood out, especially because in the winter most people tend to be so bundled up in heavy coats that you can’t really see much of what they’re wearing, and many winter coats tend to be dark colors.

COO #1.5: This bag. Ninety percent less than bag #1, and you may be able to get it in-store for 40% off at the Gap right now. (Grrr again on those loafers).

COO #2: This scarf, a total burst of Vitamin C, was a recent birthday gift courtesy of our amazing babysitter (who, sadly, is leaving us soon. Sniff).

I’ve been wearing this non-stop with my blue Patagonia coat. Blue and orange look great together!

COO #3 and #4: Ok, I am dying over these socks from Woven Pear. I saw them online and immediately ordered four pairs.

COO #5: Tory Burch York Multi-Task Smartphone Wallet. I still need to get my phone updated, and when I do, I’ll be carrying it in style.

Just creating this post made me happy. It’s the Orange Effect.
